Sierra Northern has a variety of locomotives suitable for every passenger or freight train from the turn of the 20th century to today. The railroad has a couple of steam engines: 2-8-0 Consolidation-type and a 2-8-2 Mikado, both representing the 1900s-50s. The railroad also has vintage diesels including an F7 diesel from 1940s-60s, and modern units that incorporate the latest technology.
